Welcome to Sustainability in Education, where we believe a more sustainable future begins in the classroom.
Principles of sustainability are being adopted by education institutions throughout the world. From K-12 to higher education, institutions everywhere are greening campuses to save money, conserve natural resources and set an example for their students. Institutions have also modified their course offerings to include environmental studies, clean energy, green technology, sustainable agriculture, green business, environmental policy and other sciences that prepare students for a more sustainable future.
Sustainability in Education does not stop with content about green schools or studies. In the truest sense, Sustainability in Education endeavors to make education itself sustainable — economically, socially and environmentally. The ultimate goal is a brighter, more sustainable future for generations to come, which is only possible through education.
Education is a human right with immense power to transform. On its foundation rest the cornerstones of freedom, democracy and sustainable human development. ~ Kofi Annon, U.N. Director General
Sustainability in Education is for anyone interested in the future of education – students, educators, policy makers, administrators, counselors and parents. It’s for anyone interested in creating a more sustainable future through education. Our editorial content covers policy and trends as well as headline issues such as budget cuts and administrative changes that affect all aspects of education. We also aggregate stories from multiple sources around the Worldwide Web to bring you the latest news about education.
In 2016, we will be upgrading our site to accommodate our ambitious, long-range plans. Coming soon, a forum will present ideas and issues for interactive discussion and debate. We will also begin taking submissions of white papers related to education and sustainability for publication. Last but not least, we are preparing to launch our incredible resource directory where students, parents and everyone else can find information about and schools that offer sustainability syllabi. Our goal is to create a user-friendly platform for engagement between educators and students, businesses and institutions, policy makers and their student constituents, and so much more.
Please contact us with your feedback, comments and suggestions. We always welcome submissions from new blog contributors and guest columnists as well as press releases and story ideas.
If you are an institution or related business owner interested in being featured in our directory or ads, please email us to request a media kit.
