Welcome to Sustainability in Education, a publication for educators, policy makers, administrators and students preparing for a sustainable future. Principles of sustainability are being adopted by education institutions throughout the world. From K-12 to higher education, institutions everywhere are greening campuses to save money, conserve natural resources and set an example for students.
Institutions have also modified their course offerings to include environmental studies, clean energy, green technology, sustainable agriculture, green business, environmental policy and other sciences that prepare students for a more sustainable future.
Sustainability in Education does not stop with content about green schools or studies. In the truest sense, Sustainability in Education endeavors to make education itself sustainable — economically, socially and environmentally. The ultimate goal is a brighter, more sustainable future for generations to come — something that is only possible through education of the young who will inherit the earth.
Sustainability in Education has ambitious, long-range plans. Our editorial agenda includes plans to cover policy and trends in education as well as issues making news such as budget cuts and administrative changes that affect all aspects of education.
Coming soon, a forum will present ideas and issues for interactive discussion and debate. We will also begin taking submissions of white papers related to education and sustainability. These will also be readily available and periodically published in Sustainability in Education.
Sustainability in Education is for any reader interested in the future of education – students, educators, policy makers, administrators, counselors and parents. We welcome your comments and suggestions. We also welcome press releases, story ideas and feedback. We endeavor to interact with education institutions and policy makers to stay on top of how education is evolving toward a more sustainable future.
